Lisa Gorman Departs Namesake Brand
Lisa Gorman, the Australian fashion designer behind the clothing company, Gorman, has departed ways with the label.
The Melbourne-based designer founded Gorman 22 years ago and is now departing from her role as Creative Director. “It is with some emotion, and a lot of gratitude, that I will be leaving my position as creative director of the Gorman Brand,” she shared in a statement.
The retailer has 40 stores open across Australia, with more than 100 artists contributing their designs to the brand. Gorman was acquired by Factory X in 2016. Factory X currently houses brands including Dangerfield, Alannah Hill, Jack London and Prices Highway, among others.
“We wish Lisa all the very best for the future and we thank her for her contribution. It has been a great 12 years working with Lisa and she will be sorely missed by myself and the whole team,” shared David Heeney, the MD of Factory X.
“The Gorman label has achieved a level of recognition within the Australian fashion landscape that I could not have imagined when I started out in 1999. I thank those that made it happen. My incredible design team, all my staff, partners and the 114 artists I have had the pleasure of collaborating with over two decades,” she continued. “For those continuing the label into the future, I wish you all the very best. I have no doubt you will continue to bring the beauty of colour and print into the world of our customers,” she said.
Gorman has developed a cult-like following, with bright and colourful clothes glittered across social media accounts, baring the hashtag #ShowUsYourGorman.
